For a different kind of day out the historic properties of Holkham Hall Houghton Hall and Sandringham all make for interesting and relaxing day trips or alternatively why not take a guided boat trip out to see the seal colony at Blakeney Point? Setting foot inside this cottage guests will immediately realise just how much thought and attention the owners have put into creating a welcoming holiday retreat. The entrance hall not only provides space for guests to leave their coats and boots but it is large enough to be used a delightful seating area with an inviting sofa pulled in close to the warming wood burner making it a lovely place to sit back and unwind with a good book and a glass of wine or cup of tea. The beach which lies just over a mile from the town centre is a wonderful stretch of sand which is backed by pine trees and makes up part of the Holkham Estate belonging to nearby Holkham Hall. Guests approach this cottage via an archway which takes them along a private covered alleyway at the side of the house and to the main door. Once inside they will find the spacious open-plan living space which runs the full length of the property. The lounge area of the room is located towards the rear and has two plump sofas which sit next to the double patio doors and allow guests to easily relax at the end of a busy day perhaps with a favourite programme on the TV. The dining table seating six is situated in the middle of the space beyond which the kitchen has been finished with some carefully chosen pieces which reflect the cottage s position close to the coast. Depending on the harvest there may be a need to run a grain dryer fan which can be noisy, however this is a reasonable distance from the cottage and should have no impact on your stay.. To allow the farm crops to establish, occasionally there will be bird scarers in use, typically this will be in late autumn and the spring. The bird scares are not located near the cottage but maybe audible when walking, they do not go off at night. They are blue and orange an located on the edge of a field.. Guests are very welcome to walk both the public footpaths and on our field margins. Dog mess must be cleared up within the grass land where the cattle graze (to prevent Neospora canium). While on the rest of the farmland please clean up after your dog if on the footpaths but otherwise your dogs are welcome to enjoy the freedom of the countryside.. During early Spring the cattle will not be used to humans and it maybe advisable not to walk in the cattle fields with young children.
