From there you can head down to Bowness Lake Windermere and take a tour of the lake via the steamboats or for the more adventurous to hire your own kayaks. The small hamlet of Staveley a few miles away is worth a visit with its award-winning brewery and café centre. Northwards away from the crowds are scenic mountains and lakes such as Haweswater as well as easy access to the motorway Penrith and Keswick whilst eastwards lie the villages and hamlets of the Yorkshire dales.
