  • "We have stayed many times on this site in various lodges."

This lodge is up there with the best ones we have stayed in. Great comms from the owners and everything has been thought of. Lovely welcome pack, treats for the dogs, well equipped kitchen, large screen TV, very comfy sofa and lovely bedrooms - what else could you want? We will certainly be booking again.

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to hear you had a lovely holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back to Squirrels Nook in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cosy lodge with everything you need to enjoy a quiet break away from busy life."

Very easy to find with directions that are on the emails sent prior to arrival. Very close to all entertainment, swimming etc. Extremely good to contact if you do need them, we had an electrical issue with the oven and the owners were extremely quick in replying and very helpful when we contacted the number left in the information pack, I couldn’t of asked anymore of them regarding that. We would definitely stay here again as it’s in a perfect location to explore The Lake District. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave your review. We welcome feedback and are delighted you had a lovely stay at Squirrels Nook. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Many Thanks. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at new year n really enjoyed it, so booked again for long weekend."

Loved the welcome pack, good idea for carpet runner and shoe rack as you come in the door, save your carpet. Had power cut on the Saturday for four hours, this was a fault in the area and up to Ambleside, nothing owners could have done about this, we would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your review Stuart. We are delighted you chose to return to Squirrels Nook. Sorry to hear about the inconvenience of the local power cut (which is very unusual) but glad this was fixed quickly. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Many Thanks Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable lodge, modern, clean."

Could do with trays to put food on in oven and leaflets on how to use appliances, but that’s just minor issue. Would defiantly stay again. Wish it was my lodge. Also thanx for the fizz that was left for us.

Thankyou for your review. As previously mentioned this is a new lodge for us on a new plot within White Cross Bay. We are delighted to hear you had a lovely stay. We can certainly provide more baking trays. Appliance leaflets were situated in a drawer in the kitchen but if these have been misplaced we can certainly replace them. We are glad you enjoyed the complimentary champagne. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "I know White cross bay well having stayed there multiple times in the past, but this lodge was very difficult to locate, after driving and walking around waterside wood we were unable to locate the lodge, we sort help at the site reception and according to their site map there was no squirrels nook or 19 waterside wood."

Has we walked back to the car park I asked a site security person if he could help. He was helpful the number 19 waterside wood/squirrels nook had a board on saying no 3 Keswick.Joy. On looking around once inside things appeared to be ok apart from the bathroom, wash hand basin covered in scum, the floor covered with what looked to be saw dust under the radiator area. The kitchen sink is very slow to drain away. Not a good start to a holiday.

Thankyou for your review. As this is a new lodge for us on a new plot within white cross bay, all feedback is appreciated and acted upon. Im sorry you couldn’t find the lodge on your arrival and we will be addressing the signage issues in the next two weeks. White cross bay should have been aware of where our lodge was but clearly this has been lost in translation. I think this has been caused because it was a new pitch created in 2023 so isn’t added to the old maps etc. A new sign has been ordered and we have asked white cross bay to add our lodge to any maps and to make sure all staff are aware of where we are. In terms of the cleanliness issues of the sink and the radiator we will be passing this feedback onto the housekeeping team and making sure we keep a close eye on this moving forward. We want the lodge to be clean and welcoming so this is a very important point for us. This is the first time feedback has been left and we were incredibly disappointed with the score. I hope the location issues didn’t deter you from having a fabulous holiday. We do leave our numbers within the info booklet for anyone who has any immediate concerns and have a local contact to take care of any issues raised during your stay. Property Owner

  • "Stayed for 2 nights end of December Loved the location of this lodge so close to lots of great places to visit."

Just a small stroll to edge of lake with a nice little woodland area on hand to walk the dog. Facilities on site seemed excellent but to be honest we were out and about mostly and did not use. Lodge itself was clean and warm with everything we needed to have an enjoyable stay . We are looking to book again for later this year. Oh and thanks for the welcome bits & bobs much appreciated especially the wine and blue liked his dog biscuit. Thanks again Sue & Stuart
