  • "Lovely location for access to beach and restaurants etc but property is a bit dated and worn."

Wi-Fi very poor and TV old and stopped working halfway through holiday! Luckily we had reasonable weather so we were out most of the time but would have been nice to be able to come back and relax and watch something on the TV in the evening, especially with 2 children. Would stay again if improvements were made and Wi-Fi updated.

Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the TV a new one has been ordered and will be delivered tomorrow with regret the area is not good for Wi-Fi Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable bolt hole for the week."

Ideally situated near to the sea, cafe and local shop. Minor issue with cleaners having turned the hot water off but the owners responded promptly and this was soon sorted. Would recommend.

Thank you for your feedback and nice to speak to you sorry for the issue with our cleaners I am glad that we were able to resolve it quickly for you Property Owner

  • "When we arrived , there was no water upstairs and just a thin trickle from the kitchen tap."

I informed both the owner and Sykes of this right away. We were unable to use the shower, bath or sink or to flush the toilet . I am a single mother - in my 50’s - and travelled with my adult children who have special needs . Not being able to wash or use the loo was an absolute nightmare for us all. Not being able to resolve the issue and being treated as if I were stupid and a nuisance was deeply upsetting. I made numerous phone calls and messages before any response was received , and dealing with the owner was very unpleasant and intrusive due to his manner and the his persistent calls and questions before he would accept that there was a problem . I informed him that it appeared to be a water pressure issue but he insisted that it must be electrical . 24 hours was wasted arranging an electrician who I was expected to liaise with myself . Once I did speak to him, he agreed that what I described sounded like a plumbing issue. The owner clearly considered us as tenants of a residential property who ought to make efforts to sort it out ourselves , and made clear that we should be available at the property throughout the day to greet the work people he clearly had great difficulty in instructing . He was dismissive and offhand and failed to acknowledge at any time how unacceptable never mind inconvenient it is to go on holiday to a property that has no toilet or water . His manner was rude, patronising and disrespectful. The area has poor mobile signal - and we were on holiday !!!- he rang constantly - asking why I did not answer my phone when I was able to take the call. Despite leaving the key in the key safe, he continued to request that we return to the property to sort out workmen . Someone then turned up without notice one evening to do something else to the shower once the water issue had been resolved . We were eating dinner and had to stop to sort this out. It was indeed water pressure . The owner rang to inform me and laughingly asked why I hadn’t fixed it myself and told me it wasn’t his fault it was the cleaner and therefore nothing to do with him. Sykes said their role is to be an intermediary and that we should take it up ourselves with the owner. Despite 40% of our paid holiday being taken up with fairly constant phone calls , messages and without water or sanitation , the owner refused to refund anything even in a gesture of goodwill . Sykes say this is not their problem and is between us and the property owner . My adult son , who as well as being in recovery from a serious illness, is autistic and has ocd and was deeply distressed at being unable to flush the loo without using a bucket , and at not being able to shower or bath. We all were . This ruined the entire holiday for him and for all of us . I have nothing good to say about the entire experience of staying in this property and sadly no longer have confidence in Sykes . Good luck to anyone who books this place and good luck to anyone experiencing serious maintenance issues when staying at a Sykes property. You’re on your own.

I am sorry to read this review as we pride ourselves in looking after our guests and we refute the feedback left by Tasmin. As it was reported that the shower was not working, we thought it was an electrical problem. On the first night after a local electrician got involved it turned out to be just a minor plumbing problem and even though this was over a bank holiday period the problem was resolved by a local plumber by 2pm the next day. This is the first negative feedback we have had since we first let our cottage out as a holiday let which has been many years apart from minor incidents our feedback has always been excellent, and we have repeat guests come back to us year after year. Everything you would need is there. The garden is secure as we have 2 small dogs and they were safe. Although the tv has limited free view a better smart tv would be perfect . Great beach for the dogs ,friendly pub 10 min walk. Will be back. Highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your nice feedback, hope to see you again soon! Property Owner
