  • "Great location and really appreciated all the dog goodies left to use, made it very easy to bring the dog who had a lovely time."

The downstairs double bed does need a new mattress, but other than that we found the apartment lovely and had a great time.

  • "The property was a complete letdown if we are being honest, we have stayed in several places throughout Cornwall over the years and this has been our most disappointing stay."

The pictures do not highlight all the problems and faults with the building and the accommodation, many things are broken and most large items are very old and tired. Some examples below: 1. The sofas have had it, they are sunken so much it was almost comical, they leather is old, tired and uncomfortable. 2. The fridge has had it, food started to smell if left in the fridge a few days, either the seal has gone or it hasn't been replaced since the kitchen was fitted. 3. The TV in the front room is old and slow when using smart functions. 4. the main bed upstairs is broken, if your partner moves, the whole bed moves. 5. the TV in the bedroom doesn't work, wont connect to the internet etc. 6. Hotwater, unlike most modern rentals, this doesn't have a combi boiler, so if you have a shower or a bath, you have to wait for more water so other guests can use it. 7. both bathrooms have failed LED's, that flash on and off while your in there. 8. the balcony furniture would have been nice when it was bought back in 1995, its had its time now. 9. kitchen doors have failed and either don't soft close or stay open when they should. 10. the place was dirty when we arrived, sand on all the sofa's and stools, dog hair everywhere, the dog beds left out stunk so was put away out of site. 11. pans are old and damaged, utensils are cheap or broken. 12. you cannot close the front door without it slamming as it needs fixing. Basically, I could go on and on, the place needs some money investing into it to bring it up to date, to fix everything that is broken and to make it worth what is being charged. there are so many other places to stay in St.Ives and Carbis Bay that are far nicer, don't be fooled by the pictures, this place needs sorting out by the new owners before advertising it as a luxury place to stay. It felt more like a tired, old, low-budget hotel.

We hope that despite these issues you had a lovely holiday. We do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

The property

Panacea is a duplex-apartment set in a prime position above St Ives town centre, at Gallinas Point.

Sleeping six, plus two infants and one pet, and enjoying stunning views of the coastline, Panacea is ideal for a family getaway to Cornwall.

The spacious open-plan living area is bathed in natural light through floor to ceiling windows and patio balcony doors, offering a bright and welcoming space for the whole group to cook, dine and relax.

Slide open the patio doors and step out onto your private south-facing decked balcony, soak up the breath-taking ocean views with a glass of wine.

The kitchen and dining area are within the open-plan living space, so guests can easily socialise with those preparing meals before gathering around the table, alternatively, the patio is a wonderful place to enjoy alfresco meals or entertaining with ocean views.

When sleep calls, there is a choice of three comfortable bedrooms all with far reaching sea or roof top views, comprising a king-size with its own private en-suite, a twin room and a ground-floor double room which also benefits from a private en-suite.

The family bathroom is located on the ground floor, a wonderful space to escape and relax amongst the bubbles in the bath.

A south-facing full-width decked balcony enjoys stunning views across St. Ives Bay, where you can lie back and catch some rays in the sun lounger, and relax to Cornwall’s slower pace of life.

St Ives has a plethora of restaurants and cafes all within walking distance of Panacea, many enjoying views of the pretty working harbour, where fresh fish is landed daily to serve them.

Your closest beach Porthminster has a Michelin Plate rated restaurant right on the beach, Porthminster Beach café, treat yourself to dinner or lunch with a breath-taking backdrop of the ocean.

Browse the pretty cobbled streets filled with boutiques and gift shops or enjoy an exhibition at the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, to see how the town has inspired many famous artists.

Head to the year-round pet-friendly beach, Porthkidney, visiting Carbis Bay on the way, or hop on the scenic railway which follows the same route running beside the coast with mesmerising sea views.

For an exciting day out head towards St Austell, step on the canopy walkway above the tropical rainforest at the Eden Project, or at low tide stride across the man-made causeway of granite setts to the majestic St Michaels Mount, a castle set on its own island near Penzance.

Experience all of this and more, with a stay at Panacea.
