  • "Spot on..."

.in fact the interior photos don't do it justice. Furniture and styling is more modern and sophisticated than shown. Hosts keep in touch and give reassurance throughout. We felt instantly comfortable, delighted and at home.... lovely flow. Beds were a delight (I bought my topper but didn't need it). Thoughtful basics and more provided. Two parking spaces for ease when we had our local friends/family pop over..... really lovely village to take our doggo out and friendly folk around. Secure garden and not too many birds for Nellie to bark at

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We are updating the photos as we have invested in furniture for 2024! We hope to welcome you back one day. Chris and Karen Property Owner

  • "Our recent stay was very enjoyable."

The cottage is well equipped, spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the welcome basket which included items for our toddler and baby; most appreciated. The location is ideal for exploring North Yorkshire with the fabulous Dalby Forest practically on the footstep.

The location is quiet and proved convenient for exploring the area in and around Pickering as well as for trips to the coast and to York, The new owners of the property responded very quickly to a minor query and were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and were delighted to be staying in such a lovely place.

  • "Fabulous stay at Oak Tree Barn for myself, my partner, sister-in-law and sprocker spaniel."

The Barn was immaculately clean, well equipped and very welcoming and we were very thankful for the ceiling fans in the bedrooms on the unexpected hottest week of the year. The garden was perfectly secure without us having to worry about our dog escaping although we did have to watch him with the hedgehogs he found. We had 2 cars in our party and both were easily accommodated off road in front of the garages to the property as described. The owners were wonderful in communicating and ensuring we had all we needed and going above and beyond with the extra welcoming touches which were very much appreciated. The property is perfectly located a short walk from the centre of the village where there are some good pubs and other eateries (we enjoyed The Buck Inn dog friendly and the fish and chip shop twice as we hadn’t realised that food serving stopped so early in the evenings so did get caught out a bit). The village itself is a good base for those who want to head out to visit the towns/city, experience the outdoors/ beach/sea or not do much at all and just stay local and enjoy some peace and quiet and the scenery so a good mix for all. Nothing I would change about the Barn or the holiday. Hope to come back soon. Thank you for our well needed stay.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'll have to see if I can make a dog proof refuge for the hedgehogs! :-) Chris Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this Beautiful Barn with quality fittings and furniture throughout."

There was plenty of room in this property for the 4 of us and we felt even if there were 6 of us there would still be plenty of room. The hosts were really helpful and friendly and the welcome pack was really amazing. The local area was really great as there are shops, pubs, takeaways etc. I would book at the pubs for food though as these do get busy. If you are a keen walker you can easily navigate to Pickering and Dalby Forest taking in the beautiful Yorkshire scenery straight from the Barn. There are also plenty of local shorter walks. All in all it was a lovely break we had.

There was everything you needed for a flawless stay. The property was spotless and outside provided lots of space and seating to use on a sunny day. We would highly recommend Oak Tree Barn and look forward to returning.
