This detached, three-bedroom cottage rests on a small livestock hill farm in Strathnairn, amidst the Scottish Highlands.

Less than ten miles from Inverness, Balnabodach is a tranquil escape for a family of six and their canine companions, superbly equipped and offering ample parking and garden space.

After a day of walking, look forward to putting your feet up in the lounge, where you can catch up on your favourite shows from the TV whilst the woodburning effect electric stove gently heats the space.

Make use of the cookery books in the kitchen, which is fitted with an electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a washing machine, so you are fully catered.

Gather at the dining table and toast to a much-needed escape with your nearest and dearest before heading outside and sipping on your favourite tipple in the sunshine.

Retreat to the bedrooms to catch your rest, including a double with an en-suite shower on the ground-floor, along with a double and twin upstairs, each neutrally presented.

The surrounding area is a haven of tranquillity; from the fertile, rolling farmland of the coast to inland moorlands, lochs and rugged mountains, plus there’s plenty of wildlife including deer, red and roe birds of prey, goshawks, pheasants, songbirds and sparrowhawks.

From the door there are plenty of forest walks, including to the scenic Loch Bunachton which can be reached via a walking route through the forest.

Keen anglers can enjoy private fishing on Loch Bunachton, home to pike, perch and trout.

Aviemore rests in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park 30 miles away and is a fantastic destination with snow sports being the popular winter activity and walking, climbing and biking being the main draw in the summer.

Head into the city of Inverness, a fantastic holiday destination with a plethora of cafés, bars, restaurants, and pubs, as well as a range of shops for obligatory gifts and essentials.

About the location

INVERNESS

North Kessock 5.9 miles; Dores 9.2 miles; Tomatin 15.5 miles.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.
