  • "This is a lovely property for a weekend stopover."

It is very well kitted out, and the decor is fab, with lots of reclaimed materials used. The silverbirch tree through the centre of the room is pretty cool. It is very comfortable throughout. Steve was a great host, on-hand to answer questions both in person and via phone calls or texts, and he was more than happy to show us how to use the log burner and where all the different switches were for all the light options. Being able to spin the TV around to watch it from any angle is a really cool feature. The woodland area out back belongs to the Owner, so we were able to go for a long walk and explore the land, bumping into a small herd of deer who promptly ran away from us, but it was pretty cool to see them all the same. Only reason I haven't given this a 5-star rating is that we weren't able to meet Steve on arrival due to us arriving later than expected (although we were able to get in the room fine!) - this meant we didn't know how to use the log burner, and it was the coldest night of 2023 so far, so the temperature did drop in the property overnight and it was cold in the morning when we woke up (no fault of the owner, purely ours).

Thank you Graham. It was a real pleasure having you both stay with us and so glad you enjoyed the facilities. I'll pass on your comments to the Deer. Looking forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

Within easy walking distance of a couple of pubs that serve food or cosy up in front the wood burner for a perfect night in. Or you can hop on a bus to Derby as there is very well serviced bus route that is also very close. Steve the host is very helpful, friendly and available if you need any help. We will be back soon.

  • "Both my husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at The Silverbirch Room."

The property was quite unique in decoration with lots of natural wood features and this made for a warm and cosy accommodation, plus a very good woodburner which we made the most of. There was road noise at the front of property but the forest out back was quite the opposite and we enjoyed a cuppa on the garden sofa, under cover, on the beautiful decking watching the wildlife - deer, birds and domestic ducks & chickens. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a chat most days with him.

Thank you Craig It was a real pleasure having you both stay with us and so glad you enjoyed the facilities. I’ll pass your kind words on to the wildlife as well. Looking forward to seeing you both again. Property Owner

  • "What a stunning property!"

Couldn't fault it. Steve left us a lovely 'Welcome pack' including fresh eggs from his chickens. There was an endless supply of logs for the log burner, and the bed was so cosy we didn't want to get up in the morning! The bus stop outside meant we could see all the sights without using the car. We feel privileged to be the first to stay here as Steve has built it himself and his attention to detail is phenomenal. Only one problem...time went too quick! Will definitely be back... Thank u Steve -John&Jane

Thank you John I couldn’t have wished for better first guests. Your satisfaction and appreciation gave the whole project a marvellous christening. I look forward to you and Jane staying with us again very soon. Property Owner
