  • "1. Street signage so faint we had to turn around twice to find it."

    2. Welcome - nonexistent. 3. Owners' promised door code not sent before arrival. Lock unfamiliar. 4. Stair treads so narrow only half of my foot would fit. Completely unacceptable to anyone disabled. 5. We stayed one night because it was late in the evening, but went to a hotel for the other two nights. Request a refund for two nights. 6. All our other dealings with sykescottages were great. This one was so disappointing that we won't use you again.

I am sorry to hear that you had difficulties, and I do wish that you had contacted us at the time so we could have helped. The street signage is something that we don't have control over, but the welcome guide I sent you in advance did say that you should use our post code on your sat nav as that is a reliable way to find your way to us. Our welcome guide was sent to you in advance, and it did include the door code. I am sorry that the lock was unfamiliar to you, but the welcome guide is very clear as to how to use it. Our cottage is a historic property and the stairs from the ground floor to the first aren't particularly narrow for a cottage of its time, but I am sorry they were not to your liking. Again, I apologise that you had an unsatisfactory stay, but I do wish you had let us know you were having problems at the time. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property and grounds."

The hosts were friendly and approachable. The property itself was spotless and contained all the equipment needed for self catering services and very comfortable. Great location to local villages. All in all a very enjoyable long weekend.

Thanks so much for your feedback. It was lovely to have you stay with us, and we would be happy to welcome you back any time. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely break at the Writers’s cottage."

The children and dog loved being able to explore the extensive and beautiful grounds. It was so peaceful and relaxing but we were able to run to the local village, Finchingfield, every day and one evening enjoyed pizza in the local pub. There is plenty to explore in the area but we did less than we had hoped because the children were keen to make the most of the weather in the swimming pool and play tennis. The owner sent all the information we needed and was really welcoming and accommodating.

Thank you so much for staying with us, and for your lovely feedback. We enjoyed having you with us and hope you return again soon! Property Owner

  • "We all loved it here."

The cottage is super clean, well equipped, comfy beds with superb quality bedding made for relaxing sleeps.Great parking space, WiFi, welcome pack(tea, coffee, coffee pods for coffee machine, biscuits). The accommodation is pet friendly, great walks on the doorstep. For leisure there is an outdoor swimming pool ( heated)- we enjoyed in every weather. There is also a tennis court on the grounds (tennis rackets and balls available from summer house-you will have the key to this). We had extremely relaxing time here, the only sound we could hear was the birds (we spotted all sort of species)singing. Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely come back.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back as soon as possible. Best regards, Lara Property Owner
