  • "We had a lovely 2 weeks in our favourite area of Cornwall."

The hideaway is perfect if you want to go off walking no need for the car. Jane was lovely and welcoming, there if you needed her but not at all intrusive. Will definitely book again.

  • "The Hideaway Studio is a quaint, fairly new property set in mature garden."

It's the perfect getaway for anyone wanting a peaceful break. There are beautiful walks over the Towans, perfect for our four-legged friend, and the beach is dog friendly too. Would definitely book a return visit.

  • "I arrived at 3pm as this was the stated check in time on all my correspondence."

However the owner wasn't happy as she prefers people to arrive after 4pm. As the place was ready, I asked to be shown to the accomodation anyway. As this is self catering, there are no cooking facilities or any equipment provided. There is a microwave, toaster and kettle. But no kitchen area so you have to wash any plate etc in the sink in the bathroom. The fridge is a mini fridge, so could get some milk and maybe something else small in there. The bathroom.. I ran out of hot water on the second day so needed to use the immersion heater but as not used to one, had to have a cold shower as it heated up. Which was fine as it washed all the hair off the bath which was left from previous owner. The bed, as mentioned in another review, is rock hard, like sleeping on a snooker table. I brought an elderly pug with me, who just sleeps all day. As a professional person, he is used to be left while I'm at work. However, after I popped out for two hours, the owner came to speak to me and strongly explained she doesn't agree with dogs being left. I explained he is used to it but she insisted on giving her opinion and it's against her rules plus he was distressed and damaging her furniture. He was asleep. I offered to pay for any damage but of course, there was none. However this made me feel uncomfortable. Due to the accomodation being in her garden, right next to her house, she can see into the property from the house. After this incident, I felt I was then being watched. Definitely not a relaxing break with added expensive of having to eat out all the time.

  • "I have just spent a fabulous 5 nights at the Hideaway Studio."

I came here to work and found it was exactly the right ambiance to gather my thoughts. The week was extremely productive but also relaxing and I'm returning to the City feeling recharged. The owner Jane is very friendly and willing to help out with any queries but also leaves you alone and isn't at all intrusive. The sea and the most astonishingly beautiful beach is a short walk through the dunes and you are close to bus stops to Truro or St Ives. It is not a large place (and the cooking facilities are a kettle and a microwave) but is cosy, beautifully furnished with lots of colourful artwork and perfect for a relaxed getaway for 1 or 2 adults. I would highly recommend it for a short stay - particularly for a writer looking to clear the clutter and find some space.

It was so lovely to meet you, David. Please come back soon to spend more time on you're inspirational writing. Property Owner

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
