  • "Woods Lane cottage lacks proper care and attention from its owners."

Many aspects of the cottage relate to poor standards of cleanliness and maintenance and poor quality repairs leaving some areas of the cottage unsafe, i.e. stair carpet not affixed to gripper, kitchen threshold strip unsecured by gaffa tape! It is such a shame that the property presents way below standard and not as marketed. I do hope the owners acknowledge their responsibilities in the upkeep of the cottage and its cleaning requirements. Ultimately, we hope our feedback results in the improvements required so that future paying guests receive a clean, safe and comfortable cottage stay.

I am sorry that you have found the property to below your expectations. This review is somewhat of a shock as recent feedback and my checks have found the cleaning company to be good. I have provided the feedback to the cleaning company . The safety issues have been fixed. Property Owner

  • "Lovely, quaint and spacious property in an excellent location for exploring!"

The tea, coffee, toilet roll, logs for the fire and the wine were a lovely touch. Thank you. My only critique would be making it clear on the booking that this property is not suitable for those with accessibility requirements. My mum has very restricted mobility and really struggled with entering and exiting the property because of the stone steps (some of which were loose) with no handrails at all. My daughter fell on the stone pathway leading to the house, as the stones became very slippery in the rain. Again - a little clarity on the pathways to and from the property being inaccessible to some would’ve been appreciated. The only other pointer would be some clearer instructions on how to find the property. Particularly in the dark… as the stated ‘Woolpack Inn’ no longer existed and the cottage is along a (dark) pathway behind the main road it took us and our smartphones over half an hour to pinpoint the exact location of the house. With that said, the off street parking was no problem at all during our visit. We managed to park our 2 cars close to the cottage throughout. The neighbours were lovely as was the beautiful neighbourhood. I would absolutely stay again, but with additional help to get Mum up and down the steps. Thank you

  • "There were a lot of webs and general uncleanness."

For example the front door was dirty and had to be brushed down of spider webs before we could put in the key. This did not give a good first impression! And the cloakroom toilet had a leaking problem which was advised in the visitor book by the last visitors but the only solution had been to put in a mop and bucket. The shower in the main bathroom was only a truckle. We advised all of these issues to the owners on our departure in the book provided by them.

Thank you for the feedback. The downstairs toilet had been reported prior to your stay and this had been looked at and fixed. It seems form your feedback that there is still a problem and we are looking to solve the issue. We note your feedback re the webs on the front door and the main bedroom shower - which we shall rectify. Property Owner
