The property

Tucked away in the countryside on the outskirts of the historic town of Battle, Sussex is Fox Meadow.

This wonderful annexe is lovingly named after the family of resident foxes living nearby and benefits from a charming patio area with breath-taking views across the countryside and sheep in the encompassing fields, off road parking and close proximity to the attractions in Battle, the perfect setting for a romantic getaway.

After a day of exploring, snuggle up on the sofa while your partner pampers you with a delicious meal prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen.

If the sun is shining, dine alfresco at the picnic bench where you can cherish these tranquil moments with your loved one while the sun setting over the rolling hills provides a truly memorable backdrop.

When the sky darkens, head inside to wash off the day in the sleek shower room before heading for some much-needed rest in the double bedroom.

During the day head into the heart of Battle where you can stock up on essentials at local stores or enjoy date nights at pubs including the charming Kings Head pub or The Sweet Olive.

A vibrant history forms the foundation of this town, explore the site of the famed 1066 Battle of Hasting at the English Heritage Site or amble through the ruins of Battle Abbey where you visit the battlefield before paying a visit to the Crypt Chapels.

On sunny days head straight for the coast in Hastings where you can find the golden shores of Hastings Beach perfect for soaking up the sun or splashing around in the sea.

The seafront is lined with attractions including miniature golf and Hasting’s Aquarium where you can marvel at sea creatures from the immersive underwater tunnel; and don’t forget to visit the Norman ruins of Hastings Castle.

Make memories at Fox Meadow.

About the location

BATTLE

Hastings 6 miles; Bexhill-on-Sea 7.5 miles; Eastbourne 15 miles.

Battle is a quaint town in East Sussex situated inland and about 6 miles from the more vibrant sister, seaside town of Hastings. Both are famous for their involvement with the battle between William the Conqueror and King Harold in 1066 which changed the course of English history forever. With its narrow alleys, Battle prides itself on remaining a historic landmark, although it is now a bustling and busy place that welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world each year. Visitors come to indulge in the delights that tea rooms such as Mrs Burton's can offer with high tea being served on tall cake stands in a quintessential English parlour dating back to the 16th century. They can browse around charming shops selling local produce and hand-made goods, local butchers and organic vegetable stores where cheeses and wines made only a few miles away are on sale. But, standing proud over this lovely town so full of history, is Battle Abbey. Majestic in its appearance and, although with part of it's buildings now laying in ruins, it still attracts visitors who explore its battlegrounds and Abbey ruins. On the green, events and exhibitions take place throughout the year from costumed marble matches to medieval fayres and scarecrow competitions. Only a short drive away Hastings offers visitors the chance to enjoy a day by the sea, swimming or sailing, fishing or wind-surfing. Or why not dine alfresco at one of the numerous restaurants in the old town with its view over Hastings Castle on the hill, before taking in a show or a play at one of the theatres close by? Separated by only a few miles, but joined by history, Hastings and Battle are towns that offer excitement and enjoyment at any time of year.
