  • "We had a fantastic time at the cottage."

Very well appointed. One small detail, the mattress in the main bedroom (blue) sloped into the middle. Other than that fabulous.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Really disappointed about the mattress in the main bedroom as I replaced this mattress under 12 months ago with a not an inexpensive mattress that I would have thought would last a few years at least! Still under guarantee so I will get back to the manufacturers and thank you for letting me know. Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our short stay."

The only thing would be is that we were a bit confused over the bins and what went where! Perhaps a notice on the board and on the indoor bins to remind us which is which

Glad you enjoyed your stay at Betwixt! I do have the information about recycling in the information file so I will copy and put on the notice board to help future guests. One of the bins in the kitchen does have a recycling notice on it, so apologies as I must have faced it the wrong way round towards the wall! Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it as I’m always trying to improve guests experience when staying at Betwixt. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is stunning, we were welcomed with a lovely letter and a basket of goodies, all the rooms are beautiful and tidy, there are games and books, TV, WiFi and a lovely yard at the rear of the house which we were lucky enough to sit out in the evening and night and take in the wildlife."

We all commented on how we would love to live there and we will be back again, hopefully very soon.

  • "Beautiful cottage but could do with some upkeep on the outside ."

One biggish concern was there wasn't an anti slip mat beneath the rug near the piano .. I slipped on it twice on the first day so we rolled it up . No injury thankfully . Other than that , very well equipped and very comfortable

Sorry to hear you slipped on the large rug near the piano. I will ensure an anti slip mat is put in place before my next guests arrive. If you’ve still got my contact number would appreciate more specifics on the outside. I’m sure the garden was well kempt so would be good to know what I need to look at improving over the quieter months. Thank you for feedback, Annie Property Owner

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
