History lovers will enjoy visiting the castle there which can be seen from the window as well as Alnwick Castle used in the Harry Potter film series. The surrounding area is the perfect destination for those who like nothing better than spending time in nature exploring the beauty of the local area. The coast is just six miles away with the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve just a few miles to the south. A visit to Holy Island is a wonderful experience as it is accessible only by tidal causeway and being home to just 160 residents is an unspoilt natural habitat for an abundance of wildlife as well as being a site of religious pilgrimage and historic interest. Beautiful St Abbs is a short drive away and offers some fantastic walks a nature reserve and excellent diving. The Berwickshire coast is renowned for its abundance and diversity of marine wildlife. If you enjoy an adrenalin rush highly recommended is the Eyemouth Rib boat trip. Within an hour s train journey are the cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle with their excellent shopping and leisure facilities. Mountain bikers and walkers are spoilt for choice with numerous country and coastal tracks to explore.
