More Details
This luxurious and fully equipped villa occupies a beautiful, sunny location on a small hill. Everything has been thought of - there's even an Internet connection. The house and all facilities were constructed in 2006. There are several terraces (covered), one with a fireplace / barbeque. Around the pool you'll find sun beds and lots of grass. Fruit trees give you the opportunity (in season) to pick your own oranges and squeeze your own orange juice. Fun places to visit nearby include: Leiria, with its medieval Castelo de Leiria (castle). Throughout the city you will find historic testimony of the faith that the city once exuded such as in Se Cathedral. If you drive in a southerly direction, past the orchards, you will come to Batalha. Founded in thanksgiving for a major military victory in 1385, the Batalha Monestary (Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitoria de Batalha) is an excellent example of medieval Portuguese and was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1983. Slightly northeast of Batalha is Fatima, a renowned pilgrimage site. Slightly further east lies the peaceful town of Tomar. Each stone here testifies to an eventful past. This is a great place to walk and admire the pretty facades of houses, churches and other buildings. Slightly south, along the coast, lies picturesque Nazaré. In this typical Portuguese fishing village time seems to have stood still. Because there is no port, the fishermen bring the ships to the beach using oxen. Many women still do their laundry in the river. At night, when the fishermen return, there is always a pleasant crowd to great them. The fish dry on shelves at the beach. Other attractions include the Largo do Seminario, the Largo Central and the Portas do Sol, and the nineteenth century Belvedere with magnificent gardens of which one overlooks the Tagus River. You also have a beautiful view of the city from the Tower das Cabacas. This tower, also known as Torre do Relogio, once served as a watch tower. The view from here is really overwhelming. Distances: The airport is 45km; the coast 65km; supermarket 1km; golf course 15km; Lisbon 50 kilometers.
